Plug-and-play control unit for Daylight Dimmer

Our plug-and-play control unit allows you to easily operate one or more Daylight Dimmers. The unit is supplied fully prepared and pre-assembled. This eliminates the need to assemble individual components yourself, resulting in a reliable and user-friendly system.

The control unit can be operated using the standard wireless GIRA wall switch included or via the Plejd app. Additionally, you can configure automatic schedules and an astronomical clock. Integration with various smart home systems is possible via an optional gateway.

Robust Spelsberg housing

The components are housed in a high-quality plastic enclosure from Spelsberg, a globally renowned brand in electrical enclosures and installation systems.

The grey enclosure features a fully sealed lid and an IP66 protection rating. This means the enclosure is dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets.

This allows the control unit to be used in a wide range of environments, such as homes, commercial buildings, and agricultural facilities. Actual protection depends in part on correct mounting, cable entry, and placement.

Compact dimensions

Thanks to its compact size, the control unit can be mounted in various locations. Ensure sufficient clearance around the unit for cable entry, connections, and any necessary maintenance.

Control via Plejd JAL-01

The control box houses a Plejd JAL-01 Shutter Controller. This module controls the connected daylight dimmer(s).

The JAL-01 works in conjunction with the Plejd WIN-01 Wireless Switch Module, which is installed behind the included wall switch. This allows for wireless operation of the daylight dimmer, eliminating the need to run a separate control cable between the wall switch and the control box.

Wireless GIRA ST55 wall switch

A white GIRA ST55 flush-mounted switch is supplied as standard with the control box. A Plejd WIN-01 Wireless Switch Module is installed with this switch.

The WIN-01 features two inputs and is compatible with various types of switches. This allows you to replace the included GIRA ST55 with another suitable switch that better matches your interior or existing switchgear, if desired.

The WIN-01 is compact, measuring just 42 × 42 × 8 mm, and operates on a replaceable battery. The expected battery life is up to 15 years; actual battery life depends on usage and conditions.

The wireless range is approximately 10 metres. This range is typical for many common wireless technologies, such as Bluetooth (Class 2). However, indoors, this signal can be affected by obstacles such as thick walls, concrete, metal structures, or interference from other electronic devices.

Operation via the Plejd app

In addition to control via the wireless wall switch, the Daylight Dimmer can also be operated using the Plejd app on a smartphone.

After downloading the app, enter the supplied system code. This code is located on the control unit and the transmitter. Once the code has been entered, the end user can operate the Daylight Dimmer via the app whenever the smartphone is within range of the system.

Using the Plejd app, you can:

Manually open and close the Daylight Dimmer
Create your own scenes
Set personal schedules
Adjust existing schedules
Enable or disable schedules as desired
Set up automatic operation via the astro clock
Synchronize operation with the position of the sun

This allows daylight intake to be automatically adjusted to the daily rhythm, room usage, and the user's personal preferences.

Integration with smart home systems

With a suitable Plejd gateway, the system can be integrated with various smart home platforms, including:

Homey
Amazon Alexa

This enables the Daylight Dimmer to become part of a broader smart installation and be controlled alongside other devices, scenes, and automations.

These integrations require an additional gateway and potentially specific configuration. Please contact Techcomlight in advance if you wish to combine the control unit with a smart home or home automation system. We can then discuss the options and the required configuration with you.

Suitable for up to 10 Daylight Dimmers

Up to 10 Daylight Dimmers can be connected to a single standard control unit.

Various control options

The Daylight Dimmer can be operated in several ways using our control unit:

Wireless wall switch: using the standard included white GIRA ST55 and Plejd WIN-01.
Custom switch: the WIN-01 can be combined with another suitable switch.
Smartphone app: manual control via the Plejd app.
Scenes: combining multiple preferred settings.
Astronomical clock: automatic operation based on the position of the sun.
Schedules: automatic opening and closing at user-defined times.
Smart home: integration with Apple HomeKit, Google Home, Homey, Amazon Alexa, and others via a suitable gateway.
Home automation: other custom integrations are available upon request.

Low-voltage cable for the Daylight Dimmer

Each Daylight Dimmer comes with approximately 70 cm of low-voltage cable as standard. If necessary, this cable can be extended up to a maximum of 30 metres. This allows the control unit and the various Daylight Dimmers to be mounted in the desired locations.

If the system configuration is known in advance, we can pre-connect the control unit—using the included 70 cm cable—to one Daylight Dimmer.

Are multiple Daylight Dimmers being connected to a single control unit? The remaining dimmers must then be connected and daisy-chained by a qualified installer.

Power cable with 3 pin UK (Type G) electrical plug

The control unit is powered via a pre-assembled power cord approximately 1 metre in length. This cord is fitted with a 3 pin UK (Type G) plug and can be connected directly to a suitable 230-volt wall socket.

If a suitable wall socket is located within 1 metre of the control unit, you simply need to plug it in. The other components are already pre-assembled.

Note: The power cord operates on 230 volts. For greater distances, use only a suitable and safe extension cord. Any modifications to the power cable or the fixed electrical installation must be carried out by a qualified installer.

Simple and safe installation

The control unit is supplied fully pre-assembled. If a suitable wall socket is available within reach of the pre-fitted power cord, the 3 pin UK (Type G) plug can be connected easily.

If cables need to be modified or multiple Daylight Dimmers daisy-chained, please have this work carried out by a certified installer. This ensures a safe connection and proper operation of the entire system.
